Eligibility

  • Players must be currently enrolled in school and be in good standing with the school.
  • Players must be under 19 as of January 1, 2010.
  • No previous rugby experience is needed.

Practice Schedule

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 - 8:00 (could change after Daylight Savings).
  • We may have practices on Fridays and Sundays throughout the year.
  • YMCA Caine Halter Branch on Cleveland Street

Game (Match) Schedule

  • Regular season matches will be played primarily on Friday nights, Saturdays and/or Sundays.
  • Match locations will be determined by field availability.
  • Official Matrix (schedule) will be released in January.
In order to register for USAR CIPP, please follow the instructions below:


1) Log on to https://membership.usarugby.org/default.aspx
2) Click on the "Create/Renew Individual Membership" link at the top.
3) Fill out the contact information.
4) If you have CIPP'ed before, indicate so at the bottom, and choose your name from the list. If you are a new participant, indicate so at the bottom.
5) Read and agree to the waiver statement, insert your personal information, and proceed.
6) You will register as a player for "Greenville High School Rugby Club (29028)"
7) Click on "Save" and then "Checkout" and enter your payment information.


The cost is $20 and is valid for one calendar year.


Follow these steps and you should be able to CIPP for the coming season.

Gentlemen,

   This workout is designed to give you the best opportunity to succeed at your chosen sport, Rugby.  It has several different elements, with the most important being the maximal effort lifts that you need do every time you step into the weight room.  Following that will be a mixed-mode training.  Upon the completion of this, you will go into a more general strength and conditioning routine that will aid to balance out your body and develop strength in places that are a must for rugby players. 

 

“Failure to prepare is planning to fail.”

                  Warm up and cool down properly.  Follow the pre-activity prep (PAP) and the great eight stretches at the end to ensure you are warm and you get some active flexibility upon completing your workout.

                  To ensure that you are ready coming into next season, you need to maximize your training time by being properly hydrated, having timed your eating accordingly, and rested plenty before attempting this program.

Players Code of Conduct


Players are the most important people in our sport and are role models for all involved in the game.  USA Rugby’s aim is to encourage all players to act in the best interests of the game and USA Rugby at all times and to maintain the highest standards of conduct.  Fair play and respect for all concerned are fundamentally important.

A.    A USA Rugby participating player in good standing pledges:

a)    To remember that as a participating player he is an ambassador for the sport and the country and will set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters. This includes physical appearance and demeanor in public, in training, in coaching, when competing and especially in defeat.

b)    To demonstrate high regard for the best interest of the game when publicly expressing an opinion on the game or any particular aspect of a match or incident. 

c)     To use appropriate language when representing the sport in public places. A participating player will not tolerate inappropriate language in others in such settings.

d)    To operate in the spirit of fair play and the Laws of the Game in pursuit of victory, as well as know and abide by the Laws of the Game and competition rules.

e)    To accept the decisions of Match Officials and will show respect for Match Officials at all times.

f)     To abide by the instructions of coaches and team officials in keeping with the spirit of this code.

g)    To demonstrate respect towards opposition players, team officials and supporters at all times.

h)    To develop sporting abilities in terms of skill, technique, tactics and fitness.  A participating player will strive for a level of fitness and competitive readiness that will permit his performance to be at the maximum of his abilities.

i)      To refrain from conduct detracting from his ability or that of his teammates to attain peak performance.

j)      To safeguard the physical fitness of his teammates and opponents, avoiding unnecessary violent play and assisting injured players where necessary.

k)    To resist any temptation to take banned substances or used banned techniques.

l)      To manage injuries, and rehabilitation from injuries, with honesty and openness with coaches and medical staff at all levels.

m)  To resist any influence which might, or might be seen to, bring into question his commitment to the team winning.

n)    To make himself available to represent USA Rugby in competition and to attend all agreed training and squad sessions.
